Today, we decided to wear black. When people asked us why, we jokingly replied that we were mourning for our bad schedule this term. Today's just another typical long day in school. The only thing that I enjoyed was taking photographs of our schoolmates for my other blog, The SDA Project, along with Lorenz, Lyka and Esme. Expect a lot of posts soon. We will also be shooting our monthly feature on Sunday. Make sure to visit our site!
This is the second time that Kim Chiu graces the cover of Preview Magazine and she never fails to surprise me. Compared to her cover last year, I like this one better. This issue also features the Queen City of the South - Cebu. I like how they feature the fashion industry and the artistic talents of the south. So to all Cebuanos, palit namo.
From left to right: Avi Castano, Sakki Romano, Monica Mariano and me.
One thing that's common among the four of us - we love Katy Perry. We conceptualized the shirts a few weeks ago and Avi made them during the weekend. Fine, fresh, fierce - these are the girls I love the most.
New term, new classrooms, new subjects, new professors, same awesome classmates, better me.
Having five subjects was rather exhausting for us. Our classes every Monday and Wednesday start at eight in the morning and end at six in the evening. What made it even worse are the subjects that we have during these days - Communication Skills, Filipino, Psychology, Economics and Sociology, all packed into one long day. It will really take some time for us to adjust to this new schedule. I have a lot of assignments to do now.
Today's the last day of our term break. What better way to spend it than having a photo shoot with The SDA Project team and the very talented photographer/art director/designer, Cholo dela Vega? A few days ago, we received an email from him and we were more than grateful that he invited us to have a shoot for his blog. Esme, Lorenz, Lyka and I met up in Greenbelt and had lunch. Just a random fact, this was also the first time my parents allowed me to drive to Makati by myself. Afterwards, we went to our meeting place with Cholo and started shooting right away. It was rather amusing to see the four of us wearing the very intimidating color. We joked about how people would react to our outfits for the shoot. Our photo shoot went so great and we really got to bond before the second term starts. I managed to take some photographs of how we spent our day with Cholo dela Vega. ( He blogs at http://cholodelavega.com/blog/ )
Goodbye term break, I'm really happy that I made the most out of you.
Let's say hello to the start of the second term. Carpe diem!
"Anvaya means family. Family means brotherhood. The brotherhood lives forever in our hearts."
These are the first photographs wherein our kada is complete, no more, no less. I love them all and these memories are just priceless! We celebrated Victor Manuel's birthday at his place and partied until five in the morning. The night was just unforgettable. I know that it'll be a long time until we get to be complete again that is why I want you guys to know that our bond will never change no matter what life brings. I love you guys until death!
Thanks to Rosanna Aranaz for tagging me this photo! This is a must-have for fashion illustrators and especially those students taking up a degree on Fashion Design And Merchandising. I'd definitely buy two and receive one (thank you Avi Castano) in the near future.
It's only September but it doesn't stop these designers from showcasing the trends for Spring/Summer 2011. Here is a forecast of the trends of the upcoming season. I cannot wait for Philippine Fashion Week SS2011 this October!
1. Preppy Checks And Florals by D&G.
2. Bleached Denim And Browns by Dries Van Noten.
3. A Dose Of Colours by Dsquared².
4. A Play Of Lines And Proportions by Calvin Klein.
Sometimes, it takes a long time and even forever for some to achieve that composition in your mind. But after a few hours, you suddenly realize that what's in front of you is something better. It's been hard to select the right photographs and to make sure that they tell the story perfectly. I cannot wait to unveil my latest work entitled, "Chuck Bass Boys". The photo above is a preview of what to expect soon. The layout of the text on the left was based on Preview Magazine's editorials. One of my biggest dreams as a young photographer is to shoot for them and Garage Magazine. Maybe one day, it will just happen unexpectedly.
I had a Chuck Bass-themed shoot yesterday morning in the Lighthouse Studio. 'Twas very fun but sabaw at the same time.I unfortunately gave in to alcohol the night before because of a despedida of a very close friend of mine so I had quite a hangover during the shoot. Despite that, we still managed to create awesome photographs and I am more than excited to unveil them soon. I'd like to thank senor Levenson Rodriguez for providing the suits for these Chuck Bass boys, and to my brothers, Pep Manzo, Jorelle Moreno and Anton Aldaba, for being the badass CB's. I also like to thank my best friend Matthew Rodriguez for being there yesterday! Live life a la Upper East Side.
I absolutely love Lanvin and when I read about H&M announcing that their next collaboration is with one of the most influential brands today, I was infatuated all over again. The collection will be revealed on the second of November - mark the date! "I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world,'' says Alber Elbaz, the artistic director of Lanvin. Here is Lanvin's Fall/Winter 2010 Menswear collection:
I was home (in La Salle Green Hills) during the weekend because of Search-In. I was supposed to stay but I had to leave early to attend our Lightworks Exhibit at the Lighthouse Studio. This was the culminating event of our weekend workshop with Niccolo Cosme.
I arrived rather early and managed to take photos of the exhibit before the guests arrived.
I returned back at around eight-thirty in the evening and I was surprised seeing the exhibit suddenly crowded! Prominent people in the fashion industry were there and I was very happy seeing them view my works.
My classmate-slash-world-boxing-champion Nonito Donaire (with his wife and friends) and Niccolo Cosme.
Fashion bloggers and style enthusiasts Thysz Estrada, Mike Magallanes, Paul Jatayna, Karl Leuterio and Jan Puentevella.
My awesome classmate Tina Daniac with fashion designers Louis Claparols and Ivarluski Aseron.
The two artists who helped me achieved the look that I wanted, Mark Familara who did my model's hair and Apple Faraon who did her make up.
And, of course, the person who made it possible, our mentor Niccolo Cosme.
We couldn't stay too long because I had to go back to our retreat in the morning. This was a weekend I'll never forget. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us!
Okay, back to reviewing for my finals exam. Carpe diem!
